Tragic News cum Ego-Stroking
There was tragic news in the Borneo Post today - a student allegedly beaten to death in a hostel by a group of other students. There is another article on it from the New Straits Times.
I felt sad and sorry for the family and friends who have lost a loved one under such horrible conditions.
But after reading the article from our very own local Borneo Post, I can’t help but feel really irritated. The story done by the Borneo Post is very long and took up most of the front page - including a picture of the grieving family. The one done by the NST is shorter and more to the point.
Just compare the two articles.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the article from the Borneo Post seems to be filled with a whole lot of Political Ego-Stroking.
Hey Datuk, its somewhat acceptable to stroke your ego in a news article regarding a opening of a new building or implementation of some scheme which is supposedly better for your ‘rakyat’.
But to do so in an article pertaining to the death of a 16 year old boy? That’s not just wrong, its abit sick too. Go fire your campaign manager.
