Prosperity
Chinese New Year is coming this weekend. And you know what that means!
Plenty of eating, drinking, gambling, culture, and hopefully - PROSPERITY!!
I’m a Christian, so i don’t follow CNY culture and traditions. But nevertheless I still celebrate CNY and I look forward to it every year.
Here’s a cocktail that I created for the occasion to ensure you get your maximum amount of Prosperity as well!
Ingredients:
- 45ml Remy Martin VSOP Cognac (Cognac is the tipple of choice for the rich)
- 15ml Frangelico (a hazelnut liqueur - cause you always have nuts at open house)
- 30ml Fresh-squeezed Mandarin juice (Mandarins symbolize prosperity)
- 30ml Cranberry juice (red color is prosperous)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence (cause you need to smell nice)
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (to ensure you have a sweet year ahead)
Method:
- Put everything into a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice. Give it a good hard shake until the shaker is ice-cold and frosty.
- Strain it into a chilled Martini glass.
- Garnish with a mandarin peel. Rub the peel on the rim of the glass and squeeze the oils into the drink before dropping it in.

I nearly called this the ‘Chinky-Drink’
This is a great-tasting cocktail. Its smooth, and the hazelnut flavor goes well with the tart juices and Cognac!
GONG XI FA CHAI everyone! And Cheers!
