Bangkok Rockin (Part One)

Travelling to Bangkok wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped.

Our itinerary was to arrive to the Kuala Lumpur LCCT terminal at roughly 11 am, than depart for Bangkok at 1.30pm, to arrive into Bangkok at around 2.45pm (their time). After checking into the hotel, me and a friend would head over to the Tailors to get some clothes made (cause apparently that’s what you’re supposed to do in Bangkok… among other things).

Getting into KL went without a hitch. But our flight to Bangkok was delayed over three hours!

Since we had a transit time of over five hours, we decided to rent a van to take us to Seremban to have lunch. That turned out to not only be a complete waste of money, but also time.

Upon returning to the airport and checking in, it was only a matter of waiting for the bloody plane to arrive so we could board.

Coffee

This was not at the LCCT… just for your info. But we did have coffee.

I suppose it was our fault for travelling at the start of the school holidays. But what can you do right? We had a wedding to go to. The LCCT terminal was packed to the brim with people waiting to travel like us.

The worst thing about the LCCT terminal and no-frills flights is the passengers. For some reason its EXTREMELY important to some people that they must choose their seats. Its almost like they think that if they don’t get on first, the plane is gonna leave without them. This results in chaos when people all rush to the departure door and cut in front of others.

But like ants, for some reason I can’t help but rush to the front as well when seeing all these people rush. I suppose its because my mum is Singaporean. So I’ve got some of that Singaporean blood in me - I just can’t help but be drawn to a mad rush to be first in line to something trivial. :P

The absolute worst thing is when people cut in front of me! I’ve gotten so used to it, that i just decide not to bother anymore. But if given the opportunity, I’ll cut in front of them later.

Flight to Bangkok

Finally after taking off, it was only a one hour 45min flight to Bangkok. As we were preparing to land, I can’t help but be awed by the stunning cloud formations in the sky. It really looked like heaven. My pictures do not do it any justice.

But once we descended below the clouds, I realized it wasn’t clouds at all…. but smog!

I’ve forgotten what a polluted city Bangkok is. Smog is a everyday occurance.

Suvarnabhumi Airport

The new Bangkok airport is huge, but the reports on its faults were all unfortunately true. The building may be new, but it was ugly as hell on the inside. Not enough lighting, cold and ugly deco, and many construction faults. From the outside, it looks quite nice I must admit (photo above).

So we are finally in Bangkok - at roughly 6pm (7pm Malaysian time). We were tired, and just wanting to get to our hotel. We stayed at the Royal Benja Hotel. Its a pretty decent hotel - old and musty, but clean and comfortable enough. Plus its affordable and has a good location in the city (near one Gogo Bar district!).
